You Can Get $50 From Samsung by ‘Reserving’ a Galaxy S23 for Free

Image for article titled Take Samsung's Money

Companies want you to buy their products, Samsung included. Whenever the company drops a new product—like, say, the highly anticipated Galaxy S23—it hopes you’ll ditch your old smartphone and upgrade. And now, aside from offering a device with enticing new features like improved cameras and hardware, Samsung has another incentive up its sleeve: It wants to give you money.

Samsung is currently running a promotion for its “upcoming” Galaxy phone and Galaxy Book devices. While the company doesn’t explicitly refer to the upcoming Galaxy Phone as the S23, you can rest assured that’s what will be announced during the next Unpacked Event on Feb. 1. We can also expect to see the Galaxy Book3 lineup, seeing as last year’s models go by Galaxy Book2.

Under the promotion, Samsung will give you $50 in Samsung Credit if you “reserve” the upcoming Galaxy phone or Galaxy Book, or $100 credit if you reserve both. That’s a reservation, not a pre-order, mind you—that means no payment is required today, nor do you need to provide a credit card number to enter. All you need to do is give you name and email address, and you’re reserved.

Just head to Samsung’s official site, choose which product or products you want to reserve, enter your first and last name, email, and phone number (if you want), then hit “Reserve now.” Because this is non-committal, you can always back out when the devices launch. But if you’re interested in one or both of these products, it’s an easy way to potentially get something extra in turn.

As long as you preorder the new Galaxy phone and/or Galaxy Book after the Feb. 1 Unpacked event, you will receive your corresponding Samsung Credit. Unfortunately, that $50 or $100 cannot be used towards the Galaxy phone or Book you’ll be ordering, so you’ll need to spend it on another product on Samsung’s website or app. In addition, you need to use it at the time of preorder. If you don’t, or if there’s money left over, you’ll lose it after that order.

While Samsung has remained tight-lipped about its new devices, leaks suggest we’ll see the usual lineup of S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra. We might get an S22 Ultra-like camera setup on the back of all S23 devices, with the S23 Ultra upgrading to a whopping 200 megapixel sensor. The phones are expected to ship with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip inside. As for the Galaxy Book, we expect to see a Galaxy Book3 Ultra, Galaxy Book3 Pro, and Galaxy Book3 Pro 360.
