3 Tips for Women Entrepreneurs to Overcome Common Challenges

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. For many women entrepreneurs, success seems to come at a higher price — with more time, effort and sacrifices than men might have to make. If you feel that way, you're not alone. In fact, the majority of women small business owners say they have to work harder for the same level of success as their male counterparts, according to the latest report on small business owners from Bank of America. While the climb might be steeper, that hasn't deterred millions of women from starting a business. Women have been driving record levels of small business creation since the pandemic began in 2020, and according to Fairygodboss , women are now starting 1,200 businesses per day. There's plenty we can learn from those who've been down the road before. Acknowledging that everyone's path is different, here are three strategies to help women business owners overcome common hurdles: Related: 8 Qu...

Jason Oppenheim Reveals His Secret to Staying Focused and Productive

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Being an entrepreneur is not an easy task at all. When you choose a path of fending for yourself in business, the only person who can be blamed for failures is yourself. The entrepreneurial lifestyle requires a large amount of patience, perseverance and most of all, focus. This is why it is so important to focus on staying fit no matter how busy work may get. One entrepreneur who reaps the benefits of staying physically healthy is Jason Oppenheim . 4 Things You Can Do To Truly Disconnect From Work Over The Holidays

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Managing email anxiety is especially challenging for entrepreneurs when taking a much-needed break. You might be taking time off over the holidays to spend time with family, but mentally, you're back in the office because you can see your emails are piling up. Escaping the pressures of building and growing your business is almost impossible when you don't effectively manage your inbox. While the idea of deleting your inbox is a satisfying thought, I think most of us can agree that may not be the best customer service move. I don't think my clients would enjoy learning that their emails are being deleted simply because I'm trying to relax and recharge. Fortunately, we don't have to take such drastic measures. https://www.tausiinsider.com/4-things-you-can-do-to-truly-disconnect-from-work-over-the-holidays/?feed_id=377618&_unique_id=648fcf213c801

When more than 70 percent of business owners and self-employed people work past their bedtime, it's safe to say that there's a shortage of rest among today's workforce. It makes sense. While the boom in remote working has given employees more personal freedoms, it's also blurred the lines of your average workday, leaving many bosses needing to chase new leads and enforce productivity around the clock to keep up with competitors. However, without rest, humans aren't good workers. How a Positive Mindset Will Transform Your Life

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Do you ever think to yourself, "My situation has always been the same — I'm stuck, and I just need to play the cards I'm dealt with"? If you have done this, you are dragging yourself down with a fixed mindset. Alternatively, a growth mindset means that you prosper despite challenges and obstacles because you see them as catalysts for change and don't see failure as a way to describe yourself. Events or actions that don't work out as intended or desired are learning experiences, ways to grow in every facet of your life and a way to further develop your abilities. Your intelligence, talents and, most importantly, wisdom require setbacks to stimulate fundamental transformation and growth. We're all familiar with the saying, "No pain, no gain." However, Arnold Schwarzenegger took that comparison to a new level when he likened the pain of training with the feelings ...

Tyson Recalls Ground Beef for Having 'Mirror-Like Material' In It

Texas beef buyers, beware. Tyson Foods Inc is recalling 93,697 pounds of raw ground beef, saying it may be contaminated with a hard "mirror-like material," according to the USDA . The beef was produced on November 2 and distributed to retail locations in Texas, including H-E-B grocery stores. 7 Ways to Let Go of Your Anger and Live a Happier Life

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. I don't like my neighbor. He is old, conservative and very loud at times when our kids are sleeping. There are many more reasons, but let's get into the real topic of this article. I eventually found ways to switch my anger and release it from my body. At some point, I just realized that it is not healthy for myself or for my family. The person who was most frustrated was me, and the other person even didn't know it. I just realized that this is not the role model that I want to be for my kids, so I started my own journey to fix this. Here are some ways you can do it, too: 1. Gratitude post of the week This became a real tradition for me! At the end of the week, I wrote a post on social media highlighting all the things that I am grateful for. Especially as entrepreneurs, we so often focus on and stress about things that need to be done, but this allowed me to focus on the real important ...

3 Rituals to Help You Build Resilience and Beat Stress

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. I was watching Good Morning America recently and saw a segment in which they recommended people take short breaks in between work tasks. The program cited an analysis in the journal PLOS ONE showing that "microbreaks" during the workday increase energy and decrease fatigue. This is the essence of the recovery methodology I've learned from research and personal experience, dating back to my days as a teenage lifeguard at Jones Beach in New York. We focus on practicing what I call resilience rituals and how they help us combat depletion, exhaustion and burnout while rebuilding resilience. The forces driving us toward burnout are chronic stress (driven in part by being constantly engaged online), multitasking and forgetting to tend to the needs of our bodies and minds. The results can be catastrophic for our health and wellbeing, but there's good news: Resilience rituals, if practice...

3 Tips for Delivering Your Best Work When You Feel Burned Out

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. While we often get caught up in keeping up with quantity (making more calls, building more SKUs, working more hours, etc.) it is delivering high-quality work that is a surefire way to please clients and earn respect. But if your headspace is clouded with a lengthy to-do list, an unrealistic deadline, or feelings of burnout, quality can fall by the wayside. Prioritizing your well-being will allow you to show up as the peak version of yourself. The following are a few tips you should employ to improve your mental space and overall output. Related: 6 Reasons You're Burning Out — And How You Can Fix It Take a break There are only so many hours in the day and often, you may feel that, rather than taking a time out, the best option is to have another cup of coffee and push through. When you're feeling stressed, a break of just five minutes can change the next five hours of your day. Our brains prod...

3 Ways Employers Can Bring Women Back to the Workforce

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Women are breaking up with work. Since the start of the pandemic, women have left the workforce in droves, and according to the Women at Work 2022 report from Deloitte, they're returning to the workforce at a much slower rate. With outrageously high childcare costs, caregiving responsibilities and trying to balance work, we are burnt out from being overworked, and for those of us who remain in the labor market, it has not been an easy feat. We know the important role women play in the workplace — we're more empathetic and inclusive. When you place us in leadership positions, we create less gender discrimination and are committed to assisting employees with their career development. https://www.tausiinsider.com/3-ways-employers-can-bring-women-back-to-the-workforce/?feed_id=331322&_unique_id=64538b1e9f321

4 Ways to Disconnect From Work While You're on Vacation

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. You're under a soft blanket with a fire roaring in the fireplace, snow is falling outside, you have a warm drink that may or may not have a few extra ingredients, and you're settling in to read a book you've been meaning to get to for months; instead, you're reading emails on your phone. You've been looking forward to this time off for six months, so why can't you seem to enjoy it? In today's world, it's harder than ever to unplug and take a break. When we finally do, we can't settle into it — our minds are so accustomed to staying "on" that we've lost the ability to turn them off. I've been guilty of it myself, and my two tweens have asked me more than once to put my phone away on vacation. So, what can we do to balance our responsibilities at work with our desire to be present during our time off? I can't say I have the perfect approach (hin...

How I Built a Healthy Social and Dating Life While Building a Startup

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Whether you are working 40+ hours a week or building your own company, having a good work/life balance is extremely important. Sure, having a lot of money is fun, but if you are always tired and never get to spend time with your friends and family, is it really worth it? While starting your own business is certainly a rewarding experience, not taking the time to enjoy yourself outside of your work can take a huge toll on your physical, spiritual and mental health. So, if you find that you're constantly buried in your work, it's important to step back and consider the areas of your personal life that you may be neglecting. Here's how I was able to build a healthy social and dating life while growing my startup — and how you can do it, too. Related: How to Be an Entrepreneur and Have a Life! The $100-Million Liver King Admits to Taking Steroids

Image
The Liver King built a $100 Million a year kingdom hyping a diet of raw meat and rigorous exercise to achieve "strength, health, and happiness." In his viral videos on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, the organ-devouring Liver King loudly evangelized for an "ancestral" caveman-like lifestyle, eating such delicacies as raw liver, bone marrow, and bull testicles. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-7MXKcYD50[/embed] He subsequently made a fortune selling protein supplements and dried animal organs through his Heart & Soil and Ancestral brands. But now the Liver King's reign as a premier fitness influencer is in jeopardy after he confessed to lying about taking steroids to enhance his jacked body. Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC "I lied, and I misled a lot of people," said Liver King, whose real name is Brian Johnson, in a somber YouTube video. "Yes, I've done steroids, and yes, I am on steroids." Related: Want To Carv...

If you purchase them, Entrepreneur may get a small share of the revenue from the sale from our commerce partners. If you bought a mattress between 2015 and 2019, the chances are you were blasted with ads from brands like Casper, Purple, and Nectar. It felt like you only had to whisper the word "mattress," and somehow, Facebook and Instagram found you. These campaigns were driven by a frenzy of marketing funded by investors and run by people who knew a lot about marketing but very little about mattresses. Leesa Leesa Perhaps the only exception was and remains Leesa . Leesa's co-founder, Jamie Diamonstein, already had 30 years of experience in the mattress industry when he designed the Original Leesa Mattress in 2014. It was a design advancement that c...

5 Things Every Entrepreneur Should Do This Holiday Season

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. With the holiday season upon us and the end of another year quickly approaching, it can cause frenetic feelings about wrapping up final projects. On the other hand, it may offer a chance to reflect on how far we've come since January. Most of us fall somewhere in between, and it can be easy to lose focus as December 31 approaches. However, this holiday season, carve out time to tackle a few to-dos that will set you up nicely for the year ahead, give you space to think about what you've already achieved and prepare you for 2023. Related: 5 Things Entrepreneurs Should Focus on During the Holidays 1. Write three goals you want to accomplish Whether you have ongoing monthly or quarterly goals, it's wise to set three larger goals you want to accomplish in the new year. How to Fight Through the Holiday Slowdown

Image
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Were you like me when you started on your journey as an entrepreneur? You'd get to around mid-November and find yourself frustrated because all momentum seemed to grind to a halt. Your suppliers take longer to deliver. Your clients don't return your calls or emails for weeks, and there hangs in the air a feeling that nothing is going on (apart from present shopping, of course). The Christmas season slowdown has begun! This infuriated me as a young man trying to make his way into the business world. Why does everybody just down tools and give up for the year?! There's a general sense that December is a write-off as people slow down and look to the new year. But what is that about? Why do we have this collective agreement, and what can we do about it as frustrated "go-getters"? The first thing to recognize is that this is a collective agreement — even Christmas is just that. We se...
