Canadian pension fund CPPI to issue first ‘reverse inquiry’ bond on investor demand

Image
Canada’s largest pension fund CPP Investments (CPPI) is set to raise C$500 million ($372 million) in its first “reverse inquiry” bond, a debt instrument that is issued in response to investor demand, a top official told Reuters. The bond offer gives Canadian institutional investors a rare opportunity to buy into the pension manager’s debt at an attractive coupon. The offer is unique as it is tailored according to the terms determined by the investors or bond dealers instead of an issuer. It is the first such bond issued by a pension fund in Canada, and is popular among provinces tapping debt markets. “What we are really attempting to do here is to provide investors greater flexibility by providing stronger voice in the program by providing revise inquiry,” Sam Dorri, Managing Director, Financing CPPI to Reuters. CPPI’s three-year bond will open on Dec. 6 and offer a coupon of 3.95% with interest paid out twice a year, Dorri added. In the last couple of months, some bonds in Canada ha...

How Rakuten Works Formally known as Ebates, Rakuten is a cash back rewards app that earns you money when shopping with participating retailers. It’s fairly simple to use: If you’re on a website that supports Rakuten, you’ll see a pop-up appear letting you know how much cash back the stores allows, and offering a button that activates Rakuten then and there. Then, you continue to shop on the site, and anything you buy contributes to your Rakuten cash back. You’ll receive the cash back in the form of a check (no gimmicks!), but you do need to earn at least $15 before the check will be sent. Unfortunately, Rakuten’s biggest deals have come and gone following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but there are still plenty of opportunities to take advantage of. If you’re already going to shop with these stores, why not make a little cash on the side? Not to mention, the app searches for available coupon codes to add at checkout, a feature central to another app you may have heard of ... ...

Photo : Sampajano_Anizza ( Shutterstock ) Between ongoing product shortages , supply chain issues, and stores left with excess inventory , 2022 has been unpredictable when it comes to retail. So what does that mean for the traditionally deep discounts offered at the end of the year? Here’s what to know about 2022's after-Christmas sales, including when they start. How to get the best deals during after-Christmas sales For some people, the real shopping doesn’t begin until after the gift-giving holidays are over, when inventory may be diminished, but the prices are low. Here’s what to keep in mind when looking for the best deals: Not everything will be discounted While it’s safe to assume that some items—like holiday decorations, or regular products in festive holiday packaging—will be on sale after Christmas, that’s not the case for everything. For example, hold off on buying any fitness/exercise equipment, devices, or clothing until a few weeks into the new year (when pe...

Photo : Prostock-studio ( Shutterstock ) Looking to save more money groceries, personal care products, and a variety of household items? With a little planning and the right coupons, you can do exactly that—especially when you stack your coupons. Here’s what to know. What is coupon stacking? Simply put, coupon stacking refers to using coupons, as well as at least one other discount—through a rebate app, loyalty club membership, promo code, or additional coupon(s)—on a single item. One of the most common types of coupon stacking is using a manufacturer’s coupon and a store coupon on the same product. Manufacturer’s coupons are the kind you find in the Sunday newspaper or on Coupons.com ; store coupons are issued by a specific retailer and are only valid in that store. So let’s say that Brand A toothpaste has issued a manufacturer’s coupon for $1 off of a tube, and a pharmacy chain has a weekly offer of $1 off Brand A toothpaste. If the regular price of a tube of the toothpaste in...
