The House Jan. 6 committee on Friday extended the deadline for former President Donald Trump to produce documents related to the Capitol riot. The committee noted in its extension that Trump and his legal team have been in contact with the panel since it issued a subpoena for documents and the former president’s testimony last month. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) addressed her husband Paul’s condition in her first public appearance since an intruder broke into their San Francisco home and assaulted him with a hammer.  Pelosi provided an update on her husband’s condition during a Democratic Party fundraiser held over Zoom on Friday — and told attendees that going out and voting will make her feel better.  “Paul came home yesterday. That enables me to be at home with all of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your kind words, and your good wishes for Paul,” she said on the video call , which was shared on her social media accounts. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Friday attempted to clarify President Biden’s vow to “free Iran,” saying that he was simply “expressing our solidarity” with the young protesters there. “Don’t worry, we’re gonna free Iran. They’re gonna free themselves pretty soon,” Biden said during a rally at MiraCosta College near San Diego, California. The president didn’t offer any details on specific actions that his administration would take to “free Iran.”  Jean-Pierre later told reporters aboard Air Force One: “The president was expressing our solidarity with the protesters as he has been doing from the very onset.” She noted that the administration has leveled sanctions against the Iranian regime and that Biden “spoke very loud and clear” in support of demonstrators during a speech at the United Nations in September.
